La Casa de Bernarda Alba Trip

After spending weeks in class reading through Lorca’s work, it was fascinating to see La Casa de Bernarda Alba come to life. The intimate stage at the Cervantes Theatre meant that it felt as though we truly were confined within the walls of the house with the family, trapped with the women who were desperate to escape. Seeing the play helped to enhance our understanding of not only the plot, but also how Lorca portrays some of his more socialist ideas through his work. Once the play was over, we headed to Meson Don Felipe, where we shared a meal of authentic Spanish tapas. Voicing our thoughts on the play and our trip so far, we experienced everything from Manchegan cheese to octopus. After a series of unfortunate events on the London Underground, we decided to walk the rest of the way to King’s Cross Station, under the lights of a city bursting with life. Finally, we were on the train back home, laden with overpriced water bottles and enriched minds.
