Student Finance

One of the biggest questions around attending university is about how to pay for it – and that’s where Student Finance comes in. There’s lots of guidance out there (and we’ve included some important links below), but the main message is that whilst it’s really important to think about the significant financial implications of studying at university, it’s very much still thought of as being excellent value for money, generally increasing earning potential over the course of a career.

Timing

Student Finance applications will generally open in the Spring of Year 13, and students are advised to complete their applications by the first deadline, which is usually in May of Year 13.

Bursaries and further support

It is also definitely worth checking to see if your young person is eligible for any additional financial support. Additional financial support may be available in the form of bursaries and scholarships for a variety of reasons, and further information can be found at the Complete University Guide and the UCAS website.
